Bordering Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands, Germany sits in central Europe as one of the largest countries on the continent. While World War II and the Cold War severely damaged the country and divided its people, Germany has regained its traction at full force and holds a spot as one of the most culturally interesting countries in the world.
The city of Berlin experiences constant revitalization, although visitors can still see remnants of the Berlin Wall and the misfortune that came along with it. Backpackers know Berlin not only for its history and shopping, but also for its vivacious and crazy nightlife.
Munich sits as the capital of Bavaria in the southern part of the country, a beautiful old town that serves up the best beer in Germany (and in the largest steins!). Dusseldorf is a haven for fashionistas, while Frankfurt offers a lot of action and high-rise buildings for finance professionals.
